Great Ocean Walk
The Great Ocean Walk (GOW) is a spectacular 104 kilometre hiking trail in Victoria's world renowned Great Ocean Road region. The trail starts in Apollo Bay and takes you through the Great Otway National Park to the iconic Twelve Apostles. Along the way you are immersed in this stunning location, taking in unforgettable views and getting close up and personal with the natural environment and wildlife.
Taking the full 8 days to complete this trail allows you to savour the physical challenges of a multi-day hike as well as time to relax, and unwind. The hike-in campsites are well maintained with good facilities - they each have clean composting toilets, a communal shelter, rain water tanks (BYO water treatment), and numbered individual campsites spread out for privacy and enhancing the natural wilderness feel.
Taking its name from the world famous stretch of road (Great Ocean Road) is where the similarities end. Even if you have driven the road a million times and think 'been there done that', you haven't! The walk is quite separate from the road and allows you to soak in so much more and see things you otherwise wouldn't.
I loved this walk - Definitely one for the bucket list! Check out the official Great Ocean Walk Website to learn more about this awesome trail.
